Ask.com Concentrates On Commercials For Promotion
March 28th, 2006 | 734 Views RSS Feed
After bidding adieu to Jeeves, Ask.com is working hard on spreading the word. Now, they are buying up ad spots on popular prime time sitcoms to promote their update service. Their new commercials feature uncivilized internet searchers who suddenly become civilized when they get access to Ask's modern tools and technology.
Besides promotion, these commercials can have negative influence. The way these commercials are presented it seems as if Ask.com is an entirely new search engine. An ordinary guy would like to search in an existing engine rather than a newly launched one. This can really hamper the growth of Ask.com.
It’s an usual old trick which is far too overdone. It’s a high time for Ask.com to come with something original to promote itself.
