"Don't complain about the snow on your neighbor's roof when your own doorstep is unclean." said Confucius over two millennia ago. Google it seems is not adhering to the wise quote from the classic Chinese thinker and philosopher.
Michael Gray has pointed out to a questionable tactic being employed by Google. Some of Google's partners who have implemented Google Checkout appear to get away quite comfortably without a nofollow on the PR8 links. Ideally all these folks should be meted out the same penalty that Google has been doling out to all the violators of its nofollow policy (Paid Link Policy made absolutely clear by Google!).
Besides Rapping about it, there are other tried and tested ways to create a successful link campaign. Without link-building there would not be any high rankings. Read on to know all about the art and tactics of Link-building & Relationship marketing.
On the other hand, a growing trend in Link Building is how it has slowly shifted form to more of relationship marketing than simple old linking. Here goes: -
Have you tried every link-building scheme and you still haven't been nearly successful? Don't fret. Now, Chuck, the Poetic Prophet has the answer. Link-building rap!
Taking a cue from the Poetic Prophet, Tom Lustina has his own version of a Linkbuilding rap, which goes something like:
Do not talk about selling links. I have come across a large number of websites that openly advertise you can buy a link on their site. This is a big no-no. If you have an advertising page on your site, do not list anything about plain text paid links even if it is an option.

Links to web spammers or bad neighborhoods on the web
Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging ("Link to me and I'll link to you.")
Jim Boykin has a very helpful post on How to Achieve Higher Rankings and Stay out of Google Hell Via Optimized Internal Linking. Basically, he explains the process he undergoes:
“I’ll start by looking at how many pages the site has indexed in google by going to google and typing in (for example):Site:mysite.com which will show me how many pages the website consists of in the eyes of google.
Just when you think all is said and done about link building something new occurs. Rand Fishkin in a blog post draws attention to the typical patterns of external link equity that flows to sites. Pages related to e-commerce or business receive very little link love.
Is Google trying to dictate the terms to webmasters? The search engine world has faced a mini-hurricane after Matt Cutts asked webmasters to report paid links in the authenticated spam report form at Google’s webmaster console. Matt asked to mention “paidlink” in the text area and provide information as:
Something like “Example.com is selling links; here’s a page on example.com that demonstrates that” or “www.shadyseo.com is buying links. You can see the paid links on www.example.com/path/page.html” is all you need to mention.
