Ask's Co- Founder, Apostolos Gerasoulis's grand wish of making the 'Edison algorithm' a part of our daily vocabulary might just see light. Greg Ott, Ask's VP of marketing recruited Crispin Porter + Bogusky of Burger King, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Coke Zero fame, to familiarize laypeople with algorithms. The Algorithm is On The Move which feature many billboards is Crispin Porter + Bogusky's way of popularizing the Edison Algorithm. In response, threads show a confused understanding of the ads.
The Edison Algorithm is a combination of two of Ask's purchases, Direct Hit and Teoma. Direct Hit provides Ask Jeeves with an automated, crawler-based solution and Teoma is based on link analysis. Thanks to the campaign Ask saw a 42% increase in media and advertising revenue. Currently, things seem to be going well for Ask!
