After Google stopped providing feeds for search results since last December, open source models have come to replace Google API. As Ionut Alex reports:

some "evil" people came up with Evil API, a replacement for Google SOAP API, and Evil RSS, a way to get feeds for search results. Both solutions are open source and use screen scraping (what else?) to get the results from Google.

However, the problem with the solution is that:

"You may not send automated queries of any sort to Google's system without express permission in advance from Google."

One of the comments to the post elaborates that Google is clearing the field for Google AJAX Search API. As Google eventually plans to provide ads through search API too, it is removing mediums which enable people to screen out the messages.
