In March this year, I had informed our readers, that Google had finally acquired DoubleClick, which is a leading Internet advertising service provider. But, DoubleClick while merging with Google, brought along its affiliate advertisement network feature known as 'Performics'. However, Google kept Performics as an added bonus and never really tried to incorporate Performics as one of its mainstream advertising programs.

But now, according to TechCrunch , Google has finally decided to make Performics useful and has released it in the mainstream search marketing advertising by the name of 'Google Affiliate Network' (http://www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork/index.html).

The Google Affiliate Network is quite like any other affiliate advertisement network, where advertisers earn via successful sales through their websites. As of now, Google Affiliate Network will work as a standalone advertising platform, entirely separate from Google AdSense. However, speculations are that, Google would merge these two platforms into one to create a bigger and better advertising platform. However, the merger is only expected to happen, if Google Affiliate Network shows the desired results.

For all our readers, who might be interested in the new Google Affiliate Network, all you need to do is to sign up for the programs and create an account. However, Google has some criteria that your website needs to meet and the criteria revolves around your website traffic. You should be adept in the following fields:

  1. You can manage a site that attracts a desirable audience.
  2. You can test advertising offers and nurture the most productive relationships.
  3. You are an expert in driving and converting visitor traffic.
  4. You adhere strictly to Google Affiliate Network quality standards and advertiser policies
