In a recent thread at WebMaster World, there is a post titled, “Google DIRECTORY Updated: 2007-08-18” that highlights the updated Google Directory. The Google Directory was updated on 18th August, 2007, with new information taken from the most recent ODP RDF dump. This latest update have all directory edits through 7th August, 2007.

This update work of Google Directory took place after quite a long time. The last update happened on 19th February, 2006 that included all ODP edits through 29th January, 2006. As it was not updated for some time, the Google Directory became more and more outdated. The latest change will be noticed only on European servers.

Google has around 44 datacentres, and that might be the possible reason why it takes days or weeks to get it updated.

About 10 datacentres are there that have no directory copy, while the other datacenters are still working with the old 2005 format. There are some datacentres that recently went offline. Even though, after this recent Google Directory update, there are still many incomplete datacentres like: gfe-ag, gfe-an, gfe-au, gfe-ar, gfe-bf, gfe-bp, gfe-bu, gfe-bx, gfe-cw, gfe-dc, gfe-ed, gfe-eh, gfe-ff, gfe-fg, gfe-fk, gfe-gv, gfe-he, gfe-hk, gfe-hs, gfe-hu, gfe-ik, gfe-in, gfe-jc, gfe-jp, gfe-kc, gfe-kr, gfe-lm, gfe-lo, gfe-mc, gfe-mu, gfe-nf, gfe-nz, gfe-od, gfe-po, gfe-pr, gfe-py, gfe-qb, gfe-rn, gfe-ro, gfe-td, gfe-tl, gfe-tw, gfe-ug, gfe-ui, gfe-va, gfe-wr, gfe-wx and gfe-yo.
