Since our report , guesstimate is now reality with Tech Crunch confirming Google's acquisition of Feedburner's for $100 million. Google already the biggest name in Search, with Feedburner, gains access to more Publishers. Feedburner has RSS Feed monetisation which will only make Google richer.

Feedburner, an RSS-management company has grown considerably, "Unbeknownst to the lot of us who've been contentedly minding our stats, stockpiling our reserve of Headline Animators, and tending to our FeedFlare gardens, FeedBurner has quietly spread to the four corners of the earth. For real. We have resellers in Japan, Spain and Russia, our customer base includes thousands upon thousands of feeds from publishers all over the world and our flame-o-con burns brightly for millions of subscribers in 190 different countries. It's irresistable — even Ewan and Charley plotted their route straight through picturesque FeedBurner Country. (Hey, that movie looks familiar.)"

Paul Colligan explains how Feedburner would help Google:

“Adsense/Adwords integration into RSS and Podcasts is their obvious next step. They just bought their way into the guys that power a mongo chunk of this space. Best part is, the users like these guys so … a win/win.

Adsense integration with Urchin (another smart purchase) makes for a very powerful combo. Imagine being able to see that your North American ad inserts were actually only downloaded in North America.

Search of Podcast content. Need I say more?

And, … why is this good news for Podcasters?

The future of new media is not exponential growth so we can match old media insertion rates. The future of new media is the revenue opportunities that come from not having to broadcast to the masses. To see those opportunities, we’ll need the tools. Google/Feedburner (Feedoogle? GooBurner?) just might be the ones to provide them.â€

The Google-Feedburner deal has made many at Geek News Central unhappy where the thread reads "Imagine now, that you will be tracked across the 100’s of thousands of sites using FeedBurner and they will know if your political orientation is Left, Right they will know what your sexual orientation is, they will be able to tell if you like adult sites the list goes on and on."

In a thread at Tech Crunch one writes, "I’m surprised. 100mil sounds little for what I would think is a high growth area. On the other hand, if feedburner didn’t sell it would always be at Google’s peril. With more and more people using analytics, adsense, adwords combo–if Google introduced a well done competitor, feedburner’s future market growth would slow down."

Feedburner started in 2003 in Chicago. In 2004, they received $1 million as financial backing for their Series A round from Portage Ventures. For more on Feedburner, read their declaration in their official weblog.
