Google Introduces Gadget Ads
May 8th, 2007 | 1,055 Views RSS Feed
Google announced their latest advertising beta program "gadget ads" which will be launched in late summer. These new ad units are interactive applications from advertisers through AdWords while they are distributed via AdSense. Since, the application hasn't been launched officially, users suspect it would appear on iGoogle. Advertisers can add flash, video, real-time feed, and transaction functionality to typically static display ads to these HTML-based ad units.
"But they don't have to be complex," said Zal Bilimoria, product marketing manager, Google. "Anyone who can build a Web site can have a Gadget Ad." The ad unit will be simple and easy to use as most business and advertisers cannot spend tens of thousands on ads.
Early opinions suggest a negative tone doubting its success as Google's competitors have better features and uses.
