Google

Google will reportedly be coming out with a SearchWiki feature on its Search. Rumors that Google had been testing the same for the last two months have been floating around for quite some time. The feature would enable Google Search users to exercise some sort of control over the way the results will be displayed on Google SERPs.

The SearchWiki option would reportedly allow users the following:

  • Rank Searches
  • Add and Delete Search results
  • Allow users to see notes made by other users
  • View what pages have been added or deleted by other users

The SearchWiki feature is surely going to be a helpful feature for all users, but the important question here is, “What’s in it for Google?”

SearchWiki is likely to be a search result page that is different from Google's normal search results pages. However, it is equally likely that the two will be later merged into one. In case Google does decide to merge these two SERPs then how would that be affecting Google Search's ranking system.

Only time will tell how the SearchWiki option would be turning things around in Google Search. All we can do right now is wait till the feature gets rolled out for Google Search users.
