Google has launched a major advertising campaign by partnering with newspapers for advertisement. It all began with a small scale test that involved Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, the Washington Post and many other newspapers.

This small scale test will be followed by a bigger one that would involve as 50 newspapers and 100 advertisers. Google will forego the commission in the test period. Advertisers will have a choice of papers and specific sections in it. Newspapers, on the other hand, can set the prices and accept or reject advertisements depending on availability of space and overall compatibility.

As Google spokesman Michael Mayzel explained "This test is not an auction and we are not buying and reselling ad space."
