Google To Release A New META Tag!

Dan Crow, Director of Crawl Systems at Google in an interview with Jill Whalen reports that Google is releasing a new META tag named “unavailable_after”. But when this tag will be released is still unknown. The interview took place last night on the occasion of the the third SEMNE event (Search Engine Marketing New England). Dan Crow discussed many important topics on how to get your site into Google.

Of which the important topic discussed was about the "unavailable_after" tag. This tag allows the user to tell Google when Googlebot should no longer crawl that page. Dan Crow explains that this tag is of great use when you have a limited time offer promotional page. Usually this type of page gets expire on a specific date. By using the "unavailable_after" tag, you stop Google to crawl this page, after the expiry of the promotion period. There are several practical scenarios for this tag.
