Couple of days back we reported on the new updates in Yahoo! Search and how Google Finally Has a Real Challenge!. As exciting and improved the changes are it adds more challenges.

The biggest task being of how to optimize it. Given below are few tips that will help you optimize your site better:-

Yahoo! Video and YouTube: All you need is a Yahoo i.d. to get started. You have to include some of the most relevant keywords in the listings. Your video's title, description and tags should all be keyword-rich. As YouTube videos now appear in Yahoo! Use the same rules mentioned before for your YouTube videos.

Flickr Photos and Yahoo Images: With the advent of Universal Search, images are now part of Yahoo's Search engine result pages. Again, images here require relevant keywords in titles, descriptions and tags. Lucky for you, Yahoo! owned Flickr is also part of the search engine result pages. As anyone who has used Flickr will know that all it requires is a Flickr account.

Yahoo! Site Explorer: It is more vital than ever. All one needs to do is to submit his/her website to Yahoo's site explorer. Yahoo! site explorer is easy to use and its purpose is for Yahoo! to know all the technicalities that exists in your site.

Yahoo! Upcoming: If yours is a news based site or if your website needs to make any announcement than Yahoo! Upcoming is a great platform to announce. Think of how a press release helps in optimizing your site, this works in a similar pattern. But, Yahoo! Upcoming has an added benefit, after your event or announcement is listed here, it gets affiliated to others based on circle of friends, locations and interest groups. Since you are new to this, see how others approach Yahoo! Upcoming and then follow the same method. Use Yahoo! Search Assist to find out which keywords are most popular and used.

As this is a new era in Yahoo!, optimizing too takes a different new approach. Henceforth, like all other things trial and error is a great way to begin. But for those who need more than just that, imitate and learn from others.
