Matt Cutts on his official blog have cleared number of myths that people have regarding Google. The myths he cleared are:

Myth 1: Virtual hosts vs. dedicated IP addresses

Some people on a NANOG e-mail list were thinking that PageRanks of sites are affected by having many sites on the
same IP address. In 2003 in an interview to Craig Silverstein, Director of Technology of Google was asked a relating question for which he said “I can’t just deny it? What are my other choices? Actually, Google handles virtually hosted domains and their links just the same as domains on unique IP addresses. If your ISP does virtual hosting correctly,
you’ll never see a difference between the two cases. We do see a small percentage of ISPs every month that misconfigure their virtual hosting, which might account for this persistent misperception–thanks for giving me the
chance to dispel a myth!” Google still follows this suit and Matt Cutts said, “Links to virtually hosted domains are
treated the same as links to domains on dedicated IP addresses.”

Myth 2: Links in Gmail

He also cleared the myth about Links in Gmail. "Someone recently suggested that a link sent to a Gmail account equals one link on one page. Also not true in any way."

Myth 3: Delays in page loading

For the misconception about delays in page loading, Matt Cutts said that time does not matter if your web pages can be loaded by Google.
