Microsoft Aiming For A Bigger Share Of Online Advertising

As seen on the 2007 Microsoft's Financial Analysts Meeting it is clear Microsoft is now aiming for a bigger share of online advertising

2.jpgAt the meeting, Kevin Johnson, the president of the Microsoft Platforms and Services Division said the software company was aiming for a $40 billion income through advertising while also growing to $80 billion within 3-4 years. "Executives told the audience that they plan to continue investments — including acquisitions, and one more was announced Thursday — to become an advertising company, as Chief Executive Steve Ballmer put it".

"In addition to expanding the audience, Microsoft is trying to build a strong platform for buying and selling ads on its own Web properties and those of third-party publishers."

Just yesterday news broke that Microsoft would be acquiring AdECN, Inc, an advertising exchange platform company. Besides, Microsoft also spent $6 billion on aQuantive.
