Microsoft and Google have come out with voice enabled search. Google’s service is known as Google Voice Local Search or GOOG-411. The service is free and it will make local-business search accessible over the phone. To access this service one have to dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone. Though you can call from Europe too, the search results are from US only.

The service is voice-activated and can be used from any phone at any time. The completely automated process asks you about the state and the category. You will be given eight search results of which you can select any over the phone to directly talk to the vendor.

Microsoft is not lacking behind. To provide customers with a similar service, Microsoft has acquired Tellme. To avail this service one have to dial 1-800-555-TELL.

Specify your request at the main menu and after getting the result you can ask to send the informations to your mobile phone. One can even send a text message to 83556 (TELLM) from any mobile phone.
