Microsoft to Buy, Search Engine 'Powerset'! Reality or Just a Rumor?
June 29th, 2008 | 760 Views RSS Feed
Microsoft, it seems is adamant on buying out companies, one after another, perhaps to satisfy its crumpled ego. Whatever it may be, Venture Beat has reported that Microsoft has reached a deal to acquire the semantic search engine 'Powerset'. Now whether it is reality or rumor, it is for you readers to decide. As of now, here at PageTraffic, we are only in the speculative mode, till we receive any official word from Microsoft.
However, it would make a lot of sense if this deal gets confirmed, as it seems that no matter what MSN does, it just isn't enough to bring it closer to the search engine competition. MSN even tried to woo users to use 'Live Search' by offering cash backs to them, for almost every purchase they made through the use of Live Search.
As of now Microsoft and Powerset have refused to comment on the issue. However, from past experiences, all I can say is that, if in these situations, you do not get a denial, then more often than not, the deals do get materialized.
