In the online world, Google has started resembling the Big Mafia who is intent on finishing off the small gangsters. The gangsters, on the other hand, appeal to law for stopping the Big Mafia’s growing hegemony.
This is exactly what Yahoo!, Microsoft and AT&T are trying to do after the acquisition of DoubleClick by Google. These companies, along with many others, intend to file complaint with the regulators as the proposed acquisition would give Google control of 80% of the online ad market. According to a report at CNET, Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith has stated that:
This proposed acquisition raises serious competition and privacy concerns in that it gives the Google DoubleClick combination unprecedented control in the delivery of online advertising, and access to a huge amount of consumer information by tracking what customers do online," Smith said. "We think this merger deserves close scrutiny from regulatory authorities to ensure a competitive online advertising market.
Brad Smith has not heard what people are saying. “Google is soon becoming (has become) what Microsoft was few years back.”

I remember when Microsoft were accused of having a monopoly and they do. It is hypocritical of them to take the moral high ground over Google, because they have monopolys on a lot of things like pc operating systems and office applications.
