Yahoo Search blog further stated that this open search platform would enable 3rd parties to build and present the next generation of search results. The open platform comprises of a number of layers and capabilities that present users with richer, more useful search results. With this announcement, the site owners will be able to provide all types of additional information about their site directly to Yahoo! Search. So instead of just a simple title, abstract and URL, the users will now see rich results comprising of ratings and reviews, images, deep links and all kinds of other useful data.

However, Yahoo's announcement also raises a question about where this meta-data is stored. If a user has to send the data to Yahoo, then he would have to send it via some API or web interface, then it would be stored on Yahoo servers, it means that the users would then also have to optimize their site just for Yahoo. But if on the other hand Yahoo defines some kind of meta format, then it would also benefit more users, not just those of Yahoo.

Recently, Yahoo! had launched Yahoo Video blog with all new looks, but I should confess that this new update from the Yahoo camp is sure to delight many.

    Hi,

I just went over this article and found it extremely interesting. I was wondering how much you knew about this and if you can help me answer a couple of questions.
-Can anyone sign up for this service?? Are they allowing it for anyone to sign up for it?
-Is it in beta phase for software testing?

I would really appreciate your response. Thank you so much.

    Regards,

    Madalina
