Things That Yahoo! Can Do With MyBlogLog
January 11th, 2007 | 847 Views RSS Feed
The rumors that MyBlogLog has been bought by Yahoo! have turned out to be true. Now lets explore how both can be beneficial for each other. With MyBlogLog, Yahoo! can expand its publisher offerings. It can give Yahoo! a new analytics tool. Yahoo! can also expand its social network and get closer to the bloggers and blog readers. If Yahoo! is successful in integrating MyBlogLog with its other services such as MyYahoo, del.licio.us, and Flickr it can gain lot of grounds among the bloggers. It can make Yahoo! very powerful and create new monetization options.
As Chad Dickerson, Sr. Director of Yahoo! Developer Network says, “At Yahoo!, we have a global community of over a half a billion users, and we’re always looking for ways to better connect the people in that community to each other and to the communities (large and small) that they care about. MyBlogLog helps us do this like never before. If blogging was originally about building a community and having a conversation with people in that community, then MyBlogLog provides the missing link that makes those connections more real.”
There are three ways in which Yahoo! can make the best use of MyBlogLog. It can be used by Yahoo! to make Yahoo! 360 more friendlier as till now it has not been very successful because of outdated blogging interface, absence of proper direction and poor marketing. But Yahoo! can take a cue from the simplicity of social network of MyBlogLog and its basic growth and develop Yahoo! 360 more friendlily for the users. In fact, MyYahoo! and Yahoo! 360 should be merged.
MyBlogLog Reader Roll cane be integrated in various channels of Yahoo! such as Yahoo! Answers, RSS subscriptions, Yahoo! News stories and others. This can link various Yahoo! users with other like minded users and have comments on various international or local news.
Yahoo! Publisher Network can benefit most from MyBlogLog as they can get connected with their bloggers and calculate the quality of blogs based on blog readers and audience.
