Top 100 Ads Of The Century
May 7th, 2007 | 1,525 Views RSS Feed
A list of the top 100 advertising campaigns has been released by Ad Age. The list includes ads from 1919 to the current 21st century. The oldest featured is Woodbury Soap's "The skin you love to touch" created by J. Walter Thompson Co. in 1911. The list features a wide range of products and services from the sensational Calvin Klein ads, to political campaigns.
The revolutionary "Think Small" campaign for Volkswagen Beetle makes it to the top of the charts. It's morning again in America for President Reagan is in list too. The list clears many commonly believed confusions too:
Whereas only seven of Advertising Age's selection of the classic 100 campaigns of the century employ celebrities, and only eight of them invoke sex, and only four of them play on consumer fear and insecurities in the way the industry is constantly decried for doing, no fewer than 16 come from the 1960s.
