MSN Search would be replaced by Windows Live Search by Thursday. Also, Microsoft is taking off the "beta" label from Live, Live Search and Live Local.

Live Search comes with some brilliant innovations in image search like slider bar, scratchpad and scrolling. The users can browse through a range of vertical tabs- Web, Images, News, Local and QnA.

According to Yahoo! news "Live Search had previously been available in test form and is the successor to MSN Search, Microsoft's current search engine and ranks a distant third in U.S. popularity after Yahoo and Google, according to the most recent data from Nielsen/Net Ratings." Live Search is expected to gain market share for Microsoft from Google  and Yahoo! in the long term.

The press release states that, "By using Live.com as their personal search home page, customers can harness the power of Live Search to find, customize and track news, images, video, RSS feeds and blogs across the Web. They can try it at http://www.live.com. Live Local Search will offer increased availability of bird's-eye imagery, improved mobile integration and functionality, and other user interface improvements and customization tools."
