Yahoo! OneSearch Hits India & 6 Other Asian Countries

Just two weeks after we reported the launch of Yahoo! oneSearch in UK, Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany and France comes news that Yahoo! is bringing the service to India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

About the new application, David Ko, vice-president, president and general manager, Connected Life Asia, Yahoo! says “It understands what busy consumers are looking for when they are on the move and brings up relevant answers in the first screen."

Yahoo!oneSearch is a keyword search through which locals in the aforementioned countries can access News, Finance, Weather, Web, Mobile Web, Flickr, and Image search. For now, the application is available only on GSM phones with GPRS connectivity.

OneSearch is accessible to 85 per cent mobile phone users in the US. Paul Yiu of Yahoo! Search says "local search results are a part of the oneSearch experience".

The new service is a sigh of relief for people on the go as Yahoo's previous Go mobile service provided access only to Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger.
