Yahoo! and PayPal have announced and re-announced the launch of Yahoo! PayPal Checkout Program which integrates PayPal into Yahoo! Search. This is how it works: When you search for a product on Yahoo!, you will see blue shopping cart icons next to merchant listing. The icon tells you that the merchant is part of the PayPal network.

The benefits are you don’t have to visit online stores, buy products and then sort out how to make the payment. Paying through PayPal means that you will not have to pull out your credit card less frequently. You will have the whole of your purchasing history in one place. A few other benefits mentioned by Yahoo! are:

  • Shop faster: Check out instantly. Easily view your purchase history.
  • Protect your privacy: No need to share personal or credit card information with sellers.
  • Help keep your account safe: Get protection by PayPal against unauthorized payments.

As per merchants, there are no joining costs. It helps in appealing to the customers and probably earn a few loyal customers too. The program is win-win for all involved apart from Google Check Out.
