Yahoo! has announced that it would be rolling out its 'Weather Update', that would include changes in the crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms. The expected update will continue for a couple of days, but Yahoo! expects to finish it soon.

As expected, there might be some unusual ranking changes and page shuffling in the index, but Yahoo! hopes to finish the update as soon as possible and that should surely keep the confusion and concerns among the Webmasters to a bare minimum.

There are a couple of comments that I would like our readers to go through. Quite interesting comments: (BOLD are my emphasis).

“The update had apparently begun. There appears to be less reliance on social sites in the SERPs than in the previous updates.

The concept of including social sites in the organics was sound from a 'wisdom of the crowds' perspective – but there was too much potential for spam. Sort of like the early days of link popularity.

Concept search is really the way to go.

Excite attempted it last decade with mixed results – but now the technology has advanced enough to try it at a more refined level”

“It's another joke.
Position 4th and 5th for one of my best keywords on other SEs (Search Engines) are for Yahoo Answers, and I'm on page three.
I'm really sick tired of this social media crap. “

“Defining the stability of a url is heavy unfortunately. To this the algorithm of the searching engines demands a continuous change.”

If the you have any comments regarding the latest 'Weather Update', then you can always log in to Yahoo! Site Explorer Suggestion Board and drop in your thoughts and suggestions.

Hopefully, this update will be over soon and things will be restored back to normal. Till then, let's wait and watch.
