Yahoo

Yahoo! and T-Mobile have announced a new partnership, under which, oneSearch, Yahoo!'s mobile search facility, will be available to all the customers of T-Mobile in the web2go services of their mobile phones.

This means that in addition to the services T-Mobile's web2go function was providing earlier, namely customizable home page, mobile shopping and downloading facility, T-Mobile users would also enjoy Yahoo's oneSearch feature.

Yahoo! oneSearch would enable all T-Mobile customers easy access to news, financial information ,weather conditions, Flickr photos and web images on their handsets. Moreover, it would also showcase ringtones, wallpapers and games that are available on T-Mobile store under the users' search results.

From Yahoo!'s perspective, this agreement would provide them with a good opportunity to serve sponsored search results as well as mobile advertisements within the search results on T-Mobile’s web2go. This seems in sync with Yahoo!'s overall monetization strategy and considering T-Mobile's strength in the mobile phone market, this could be a very good agreement for Yahoo!

Senior Vice President of Connected Life, Yahoo! Inc, David Ko was quoted as saying, “With our innovative products and global partnerships we are a leader in mobile search and are incredibly excited to bring Yahoo! oneSearch to more and more users every day. Together, T-Mobile and Yahoo! are providing users with compelling mobile services, while creating unique opportunities for advertisers to reach the rapidly growing audience of mobile consumers.”

Some positive news from the Yahoo! stable after a long time. Will it be the turning point of the corporation's sinking fortunes? Only time will tell.
